In January it can get quite cold in Monroe.
March
Things begin to thaw in March. Spring begins to make it's appearance!
June
It gets pretty hot in June, July and August! Sometimes it doesn't rain for days. We've had some drought conditions over the last couple of years. It can sometimes get into the upper 90s (F) and is very humid.
September
It is still fairly warm in September and into early October, but the humidity decreases. It is much more comfortable.

Does the land affect how people in your region live? In our area, we live in the Piedmont region of North Carolina which is between the mountain region and coastal region. It is fairly flat and many people farm here. We do have lakes nearby as well. A trip to the mountains may take 2-3 hours. A trip to the coast may take 4-5 hours.

In the United States we are governed through a democracy. Our president and congress (senators and representatives from each state) are elected on 4 and 2 year terms. This is similar to how states elect governors. In Monroe we have a city council and mayor.
